Your Life Your Way
What is the project and who is it for?

From September 2012 until March 2013, Hedley Hall Training will be running a programme supporting 16-25 year olds to move forward positively. Those individuals with high level needs of one to one support and guidance will be targeted. These will be individuals who may have Learning/Behavioural Difficulties, ASD, ex-offenders or substance abuse issues. Only 20 places are available.

The project is primarily for residents in Bath – where I can initially offer home visits, meetings on neutral ground, at Hedley Hall in Twerton or at referral agency premises. If referrals are from outside Bath, e.g. Radstock, I cannot offer home visits but all the other places would be possible.

What will happen first?
Initially the targeted individuals will have one to one tutorials in which they will explore their options within the project and create an Action Plan for short, medium and long term goals.

What else is on offer?
When the individuals feel confident enough to attend group sessions they will be invited to attend a modular programme of activities based at Hedley Hall in Twerton. These activities will be designed to help individuals gain recognised qualifications, build on existing skills,
gain confidence working in groups and therefore improving social skills.
These activities can include:
  • Employability and Jobsearch Skills Training
  • Functional Skills Classes in English, Maths and ICT.
  • First Aid Training
  • Health and Safety Training in Construction
  • Financial planning and budgeting
  • Organisational skills development
  • Food Hygiene
N.B. Individuals can pick and choose, nothing is compulsory.

The one to one support will be ongoing and will include guidance into paid employment if appropriate and/or accessing voluntary work. If the individual chooses to take on a volunteering role, they will be able to gain another qualification - The ASDAN Community Volunteering Qualification - designed specifically to help volunteers reflect on the valuable skills and experience they have gained and to show employers the transferable skills developed whilst volunteering.

Will expenses be paid to the young person?
All travel expenses will be paid directly to the individuals. Food and drink will also be provided at Hedley Hall. We also hope to do some group outings which will be paid for by the project.

How do I refer?
