Connecting Families

Hedley Hall Training is currently working in collaboration with BANES council’s Connecting Families Team. This council team works with 215 families in the area with the most complex needs.

The support offered by us differs from that of large Colleges as the delivery style offers a more individualised approach with one to one support and very small groups. Many of the individuals put forward for the programme will have had bad experiences in education previously and are often intimidated by formal institutional learning and therefore do not consider College courses. This programme is designed to break down that barrier to engagement with learning so that individuals become more familiar with the process and are more likely to engage with further learning in the future. This has been our approach in the past and a large proportion of our learners have progressed to further education.

Motivational support will be given to help individuals understand that they can aspire to aim higher in employment and/or training goals.  Help with identifying perceived barriers will be taken into account and working with the individuals, key-workers and other agencies these barriers will be tackled.

Hedley Hall Training will work alongside the Key Workers of this project to deliver a tailored programme of mentoring, employment skills building, functional literacy and numeracy, money management skills and jobsearch skills.

Qualifications in Food Hygiene, English and Maths and First Aid will also be on offer to the participants

Hedley Hall Training would like to thank The Medlock Trust for their generous funding for this project.
